Hello Everyone,
Each of the Fire Services Liaison Group Associations are reviewing the draft Model project and the
Association’s Executive are compiling comments their members are making for a FSLG meeting in late
February.
As a member of the BCFTOA, we would appreciate you providing us with your comments – positive or
negative – so that your Executive can bring your ideas to the FSLG meeting.
http://www.bcftoa.com/public/FireServiceModelComments.pdf
http://www.bcftoa.com/public/Proposed%20Fire%20Rescue%20System%20Model%20v%2012%2012-02-08%20(2).pdf
1. The Situation
The Fire Service Model report is now in draft format. Before a final version is developed that the FSLG can take forward, consultation with key stakeholders is required. Specifically, the FSLG wants to obtain feedback from the members of its associations, including the FTOA. As part of this, we are requesting that FTOA members read the report and provide comments.
2. About Your Feedback
All feedback from FTOA members is to be directed to the FTOA and not to the FSLG, other Steering Committee members or the Project Manager. The purpose is to allow the association to compile and assess member input and utilize it as an important part of development of the FTOA’s position on the Model contents.
In providing your comments, it is important that they be as specific as possible because general or unfocused comments will be of little assistance in determining the opinions of FTOA members about the Model contents. In developing your feedback, it would be beneficial if you would consider two questions:
1. Did the Model cover the issues in ways that make sense? and
2. Did the Model address the issues in ways that make sense?
Then use the following guidelines in developing your specific feedback and comments:
1. Stick to major issues and try to avoid minor points or mere “wordsmithing”.
2. Don’t merely say that you do not agree with (or strongly support) a particular point – tell us why you have this opinion.
3. After you have made any points as per ‘b’ above, don’t leave it at that – tell us how you think it should be changed or resolved.
4. If you feel the need to identify minor elements such as “wordsmithing”, formatting or typos, put them at the end of your feedback email and identify them as “Minor Points”.
3. How to Provide Feedback
All feedback should be provided by email to DColthorp@abbotsford.ca. If you have any points that you feel require in-person discussion, cover the situation in your e-mail and provide a telephone contact number.
