Our Fire/EMS division has an extraordinary opening available for an exceptional individual who can
combine their proven management and leadership skills with their extensive knowledge of fire
protection and investigation and advanced life support emergency medical services.
This permanent full-time position is available immediately and involves fostering partnerships with
community groups, considerable contact with the general public and supervision of Fire/EMS staff in
both unionized and non-unionized positions. As the Chief you will act as the senior fire representative
for the Town and provide strategic direction for our integrated service and its members. You will
assume responsibility for the overall management, administration and operation of programs with
respect to life and safety while upholding the high levels of service our residents have come to expect.
Your consistent professionalism and forward thinking will augment the continuous evaluation of
services and operational policies as you lead this evolving department into the future.
We service a growing community of 14,700 persons and contract Fire and EMS services to several
surrounding jurisdictions. Our 2007 call volume included 518 fire responses and close to 1500
medical responses. You will work from the brand new Protective Services Centre and be given the
opportunity to work with new, state of the art equipment. Demonstrate your project and change
management abilities as you lead our team through the transition of provincial health system
governance of EMS services.
