The British Columbia Fire Training Officers Association and the Justice Institute of British Columbia Fire /Safety Division are pleased to announce the 2010 Trainer of the Year, with outstanding contributions to the Fire Service with Training in British Columbia is Deputy Fire Chief Marc Norris of the Parksville Fire Department.
Deputy Norris’ dedication and vision to the field of training makes him a unanimous choice for this award. His vision in training includes fire fighter and fire officer programs that have been developed using a coaching and mentoring approach to assist members of his department reach levels that are desirable in the fire service. Inter Agency training as well as department procedural changes to assist with responses with neighbouring fire departments in the Parksville area, which is in addition to his daily contributions to training in the Parksville Fire Department.
He also assisted the BCFTOA as a zone representative and was elected at the 2010 AGM to the Executive of the Association as Secretary.
The British Columbia Fire Training Officers Association who in partnership with the Justice Institute of British Columbia Fire and Safety Division are pleased to award Deputy Norris the top honour of the Association.
